In the spirit of giving, FES Staff and Students will be participating in the Annual Emma P. Pyjama Drive this year. In 2015, sixteen-year-old, Emma Pearson tragically lost her life in an accident.
Emma loved her comfy jammies. She’d often change into them as soon as she got home from school and had so many pairs- but not everyone is that fortunate.
Hoping to bring smiles to those struggling, Emma’s family collects pyjamas to donate to local women and children in need. Donations have been made to Sanctuary House, a shelter for women and their children escaping abusive situations, Kinsmen Miracle Boxes, Volunteer Family Service/ Food Bank, Upper River Valley Hospital, and the IWK Hospital in Halifax.
Once again, this year, FES has decided to combine two things that we love, Reading and Pyjamas! On Friday, December 1st, we are encouraging everyone to wear their favourite jammies to school! As well, please bring a book and a flashlight! During the day, we will be turning off the lights, snuggling up in our cozy jammies, and reading our favourite books… using our flashlights! This will be a celebration to end our collection of pyjamas for this wonderful cause, as we will have Emma P.’s family come to visit and collect our donations.
Let’s beat our record and collect as many pairs of pjs as possible to send with Emma’s family!!!!! You can begin sending in new pyjamas with your child ANYTIME 😊 We will be collecting until December 1st.
